The output pins on a Teensy 4.1 operate at 3.3V, so I needed a way to boost my LED signal strength to a more optimal 5V. Enter the logic level shifter, which boosts signal strength and integrity, resulting in a cleaner and more stable output.

Here’s how we built version 1 of The Vortex – a light tunnel with 3D lighting effects. The Vortex is a collaboration with my friend Nick, and our first art installation together. We used WS2812B LED strips, a Teensy 4.1 as the driver, and Mad Mapper as the sequencer.
